anniversary dinner
M

embers of the Brighstone and
District Branch of the Royal British
Legion celebrated their 10th
anniversary in December with a formal dinner
and dance attended by the High Sheriff Mr
Ron Holland and Mrs Susan Holland, along
with other invited VIPs, members and their
guests.
The branch - which had originally folded
in 1967 because of a lack of members - was
resurrected in 2004 by Mr Reg Hunt and a Far
East Prisoner of War Veteran, Mr Jim Long.
In doing so, the two men were able to reclaim the Standards of the original Branch,
which had been held for safe keeping at St
Mary’s Church in Brighstone since 1967.
