Charity
lunch
is great
O
ver £3,000 was raised for the
development of Naomi House
and Jacks Place Hospice thanks to the
very successful Annual Charity Lunch
organised by Terence Willey and now in
its’ 38th year.
Ninety-one attended and a wonderful
party atmosphere was created and
staged at Barton Manor with musical
contributions from Joanna Willey (violin),
Kieron Cooney (bag pipes), JC Family
Band, and Vectis Brass Band. Heading
the bill was singers Helena Mace and
Grant James from Bournemouth. Guests
were treated to a Bucks Fizz reception,
a six course special lunch and unlimited
wine throughout and they left with a
commemorative gift.
An auction took place raising half of
the total sum thanks to kind donations of
diamonds from Parkhouse Jewellers from
Southampton, a Hollywood Treatment
from Cosmedica Newport and wine and
flowers donated by individuals.
Paul Morgan (Head of Fundraising at
the Hospice), who attended, expressed his
gratitude of the overwhelming generosity
of local businesses and individuals.
He explained how much it would be
appreciated at the Hospice and for the
benefit of both children and teenagers
suffering from life threatening illnesses
both on and off the Island. He went on
to say that all the new building works
undertaken and recently completed now
represented one of the most modern and
beautiful facilities in the country.
