INTERVIEW
Cash for Chemotherapy unit
A
gala dinner at the Seaview
Hotel raised £2,691 for the
Chemotherapy Unit at St Mary’s
Hospital. Nearly 50 guests
enjoyed a drinks’ reception, followed
by a delicious four-course meal, with
entertainment provided by Island singer
and cabaret artist Lewis Berry, and Island
illusionist Aaron Isted.
The Seaview Hotel made a generous
donation from the cost of the meals,
and a grand draw, silent auction and
special raffle for two Bestival 2015 tickets
helped swell the funds. Co-organiser
Tracy Mikich said: “We would like to
thank all the individuals, local businesses
and organisations who donated prizes,
including Bestival curators Rob and Josie
Da Bank. It proved a very successful
evening for such a worthy cause, and
there are already plans to hold a similar
event next year.”
The ‘Funding Chemo’ cheque was
presented to Chemotherapy Unit Sister

editor Peter White, who helped organise
the event with his son Jamie.
Natasha said: “We would like to thank
everyone involved for their wonderful
generosity. We’ll be using the money to
buy an electronic patient information
board, which can display a welcome,
expected waiting times and any delays, as
well as information on which nurses are
on duty on any particular day.
