INTERVIEW Cash for Chemotherapy unit A gala dinner at the Seaview Hotel raised £2,691 for the Chemotherapy Unit at St Mary’s Hospital. Nearly 50 guests enjoyed a drinks’ reception, followed by a delicious four-course meal, with entertainment provided by Island singer and cabaret artist Lewis Berry, and Island illusionist Aaron Isted. The Seaview Hotel made a generous donation from the cost of the meals, and a grand draw, silent auction and special raffle for two Bestival 2015 tickets helped swell the funds. Co-organiser Tracy Mikich said: “We would like to thank all the individuals, local businesses and organisations who donated prizes, including Bestival curators Rob and Josie Da Bank. It proved a very successful evening for such a worthy cause, and there are already plans to hold a similar event next year.” The ‘Funding Chemo’ cheque was presented to Chemotherapy Unit Sister 50 www.visitilife.com Natasha Luscombe and Deputy Sister Julie Rasmussen by Seaview Hotel managers Tracy Mikich and Diana Woodward-Parker, along with Island Life editor Peter White, who helped organise the event with his son Jamie. Natasha said: “We would like to thank everyone involved for their wonderful generosity. We’ll be using the money to buy an electronic patient information board, which can display a welcome, expected waiting times and any delays, as well as information on which nurses are on duty on any particular day.
