Festival fantasy at The Essex
S
tep into a festive fantasy world at
The Essex, Godshill, and enjoy an
exotic, themed afternoon tea in the
presence of Snow White, Alice and the
Mad Hatter or Willy Wonka. It really is a
luxurious and theatrical experience.
There’s sparkle, glitz and glamour all the
way as you pour your tea from a gold tea
pot into dainty, gold china cups before
sampling the succulent treats on offer
from the highly decorated table stand.
The wonderful array of sandwiches,
scones and creative cakes, all homemade
by owner Teri Wood, are surrounded by
a wondrous decorated table with the
theme of your choice, whether it’s Snow
White’s woodland forest, Willy Wonka’s
candy floss and chocolate, or Alice in
Wonderland’s macaroons, meringues
and sponge cakes.
And throughout December there is also
a festive version of the afternoon tea to
marvel, with the likes of a mini Christmas
pudding on a stick ‘cake pops’, and mini
Christmas trifles to tickle the taste buds.
Afternoon teas are available Tuesday
to Saturday, from lunchtime to teatime,
and they have become so popular with
customers that booking is essential.
The Essex also offers a delicious
three-meat Sunday carvery, with a giant
Yorkshire pudding and fresh homemade
trimmings. And 90 per cent of the overall
menu at The Essex is now gluten free.
The Essex Christmas Hampers are on
sale with a wide choice, including Pamper
Hampers, Vintage Tea Hampers, Ladies
and Men’s Hampers and even Doggie
Hampers. And with live music on at
weekends throughout December, The
Essex is an experience not to be missed
this festive season or indeed for any
celebration. So call in, or phone (01983)
840909 to reserve your table.
