New legal
year begins
The annual Law Service, to mark the beginning of
the new legal year was held recently at The Minster,
Newport, with the Rev Kevin Arkell taking the service.
Members of the Island’s legal profession, including
Judges, barristers, solicitors and the probation service
were joined by the High Sheriff, Susie Sheldon, the
Lord Lieutenant and deputy Lieutenants, former High
Sheriffs, and representatives of the IW Police and Fire
Services.
After the service, the High Sheriff hosted a formal
lunch at Kings Manor, while 17 former High Sheriffs
attended an informal lunch at Bluebells Cafe,
Briddlesford, jointly hosted by past High Sheriffs Judy
Griffin, Anthony Goddard and Danny Griffin.
