Island Life - December 2010 food Annamaria continued: “This year we have been inspired to put in jars the same sauces that we prepare daily in our restaurant especially for pasta. We are very specialised in making sauce because of our Italian background. So we thought ‘why not to start with a tomato sauce (the traditional Salsa di Pomodoro) using fresh local tomatoes’? “We launched the sauce at the Garlic Festival and it was a success. The sauce is made with fresh products; no chemical additives are used. We are very proud of it because it combines our Italian cooking style tradition with fresh local produce. The Michelangelo tomato pasta sauce is now on sale in many delicatessens on the Island, in some farms and at Michelangelo restaurant, of course.” Annamaria, Dante and Rosanna came to the Island from northern Italy 11 years ago and she says: “We have tried to bring to the island a real taste of Italy; trying to transfer all our knowledge of old family recipes, and maintain the Italian authenticity in the style of cooking. We simply love our SALSA DI POMODORO, and it is only the beginning!” Tel: 01983 811966 Visit our new website - www.visitislandlife.com 183
