118 469
118 469 is a new national telephone directory number
especially for the Isle of Wight. 469 is I.O.W. on a telephone
keypad. It is just the sames as 118 118 or 118 247, except
that each time you use it, the profit of 10p will go to an
account held in the Island Community Fund and will be
distributed to small Island charities.
It is hoped that all businesses will promote the use of 118
469 as the favourite directory enquiry number as the whole
Island will benefit from its usage, and it is cheaper than other
numbers.
To call 118 469 will cost 59p connection charge from BT
landlines and 14p per minute or part thereof. Using Mobiles
and other networks may vary. Prices correct at time of
publication (October 2010).
Small charities and community organisations should contact
Tim Blackman at the Lucie Blackman Trust to assist in its
promotion and register interest in future benefits.

the menu features, as a starter, the incredibly light and airy
Gallybagger soufflé with cauliflower veloute. This clever
dish is a deconstructed cauliflower cheese – all the familiar
elements have been rebuilt in different and delicious ways.
Incidentally Gallybagger cheese bagged a bronze at the World
Cheese Awards this year. Highlights from the main course
include line caught cod with creamed potatoes, braised
chicory and sweet glazed shallots and a rich and seasonal loin
of venison with potato Gallette, roasted chestnuts and curly
kale. But no trip to The Royal is complete without trying one
of Steve Bott’s sensational desserts such as the Chocolate
Declinaison, his symphony in white and dark chocolate or
the exotic Iced passion fruit parfait with a brandy snap tuille.
Elegant surroundings, attentive staff and fabulous food – you
may just have to stay another night!
