gardening Island Life - December 2010 the rider Bridleway Group opening up new avenues There are more than 500 miles of pathways, bridleways and byways criss-crossing the Island, many of them popular locations for horse riders. Unfortunately many of the 200 miles of bridleways that are currently usable still need work carried out on them to make them safer and more accessible places to ride. That is the aim of the I.O.W. Bridleways Group which has recently been set up, with Sheila Weedall, the Island’s chairman of the British Horse Society, its founder member. Sheila explained the plans for the group, saying: “Basically, it ha
