Indoor thrills
on two wheels
Over 500 spectators turned out for
a thrilling demonstration of indoor
motorcycle riding at Brickfields in
October – and helped organisers
to raise around £2,000 for the local
Mountbatten Hospice appeal.
The impressive show by six
teenage riders was organised by the
Isle of Wight Motorcycle Club, on
the day after it had hosted a round
of the Auto Cycle Union (ACU)
British Championship.

Over 100 riders from all over
the UK – and as far afield as Fort
William in Scotland – attended
the weekend’s competitions, and
then joined the audience for the
spectacular indoor arena event on
the Sunday.
Alan
Downer,
competition
secretary of the IW Motorcycle
Club, said afterwards: “Putting on
the show is our way of giving back
something to the community as
well as showing off the talents of
the riders. Everybody seemed to
enjoy themselves, and we got some
very generous sponsorship from
local businesses, which meant we
were pleased to be able to support
the Mountbatten Hospice”.
