MOTORING
within the parts department, Richard has been a
welcome face for customers who bridged the move
from Ryde to Sandown, but for an early encounter that
honour, falls to a lovely mature couple who have been
well appreciated customers since 1954. In their 90’s,
Bob and Georgie Kerry have had a terrific relationship
with Wight Motors, and have seen their old Carina 11
complete over 80,000 miles. The couple truly reflect the
ethos of the dealership, having nothing but praise for the
outstanding service received.
The term ‘Car Parc’ is dealership speak for the number
of cars sold over the years within their area, and Wight
Motors can claim over 5,000. Achieving great sales is no
easy task, considering the competition which helps to
make up 26 franchises on the Isle of Wight. This is a
staggering amount in such a small area. Ron and Barbara
express this is a two way process and giving something
back into the community is vital in establishing and
maintaining a good business. To date, Wight Motors
have been keen sponsors of the Wight Link Raiders,
has helped to promote road safety with a local primary
school and has seen their support help promote athletes
in the Island Games.
Offering a good service is not only about friendly
support but it is the infrastructure put in place and
inward investment. Heading up brands such as Toyota,
Seat and Hyundai, the technical expertise and state
of the art equipment are equally as important. The
highly skilled technicians are constantly kept up to
date with the latest technology by attending regular
training courses.
Likewise, upgraded equipment
ensures a professional service with a personal touch. 35
Employees, including salesmen, store men, car valeters’
and technicians all strive to deliver well established
products.
Hyundai with its range of affordable quality cars comes
supported with a 5 year warranty which offers the
confidence to buy.
Seat – the newest addition of the dealership stands
proudly in the newly designed showroom and can claim
sales of over 50 registered cars, and surprisingly, Seat can
claim the youngest average driver age of 38 reflecting it’s
up front and innovative appeal.
Underlying the integrity of Wight Motors is Toyota –
and rightly so. Loyal customers have become akin to the
reliability and excellent products, helping to celebrate 80
years as the sole Island dealer this year.
Back in 1926 the ‘Car in Front’ was probably a horse!
However, the traditional qualities established then are
well and truly alive and kicking today.
