No time to paws
at Puppy Show
The Isle of Wight Hunt held their annual Puppy Show
and Puppy Show lunch on 24th June. This is the venue
at which the Hunt shows gratitude to the puppy walkers
who prepare the young hounds for general life prior to
being returned to the Hunt Kennels where they enter
into their job of trail hunting.
At the lunch, a presentation of a donation of £800 was
made to Bob Prescott, Trustee of the Hampshire and Isle
of Wight Air Ambulance by Anthony Blest, Joint Master
of the Isle of Wight Hunt. This donation was made from
proceeds of the Biles and Co Grand National and Ashey
Scurry which was held in March. Each year the Scurry
Committee like to make a donation to a local charity and
have, this year, chosen the Hampshire and Isle of Wight
Air Ambulance as the beneficiary. This is in recognition
of the importance of this service to the island, and in
particular to horse riders generally and those who hunt,
both with the IW Hunt and IW Farmers’ Bloodhounds
as any accident is likely to be far from accessible to an
ordinary ambulance.
Following the presentation, Bob Prescott outlined
some of the costs of keeping the service running which
receives no public funding, and expressed sincere
thanks on behalf of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air
Ambulance for the donation.
