Summer Fun at Ryde School
The summer holidays may be here, but Ryde School is still a hive of activity
The Summer School is proving
extremely popular both with local
and international children, and
activities such as water sports,
cooking, games and many other
activities and day trips are some
of the summertime options.
Children, both local and from
overseas are also staying at the
School’s boarding houses for the
duration of the Summer School,
which means they get to enjoy
even more fun in the evenings
with barbecues, beach excursions
and games.
On site, there is ongoing activity
aimed at improving and adding to
the school’s facilities. Last summer
the school produced two newly-fitted
physics labs and a newly-refurbished
and re-designed English teaching block
with a new calm and comfortable fiction
library; this summer, further work is
under way to deliver two newly-fitted
science labs and prep rooms, a newly
refurbished and re-designed main
library and a new sound-proof drum,
percussion and band practice building.
With A Level and GCSE results due
later in August, Ryde pupils who took
the International Baccalaureate
(IB) for their Sixth Form course are
already celebrating with a points
average of 34 points (the world
average is 29.88). At the top end,
one of Ryde School’s pupils got 42
points out of the maximum 45,
while two gained 37 points.
If you are interested in hearing
and seeing what Ryde School has
to offer, the next open morning
will take place on Saturday 7
October. Visitors can take part in
a series of experiments, activities
and demonstrations, there will be
information available on scholarships
and bursaries, and a complimentary
family lunch will be served in the
dining hall.
