BHF Newport
store seeks
local support
The BHF retail store located on the high street
in Newport, Isle of Wight is on the lookout for
enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the running
of the store.
The BHF rely on volunteers to help support their
shops across the UK and help fund even more
life saving heart research. In the Newport store,
which sells a variety of second-hand furniture and
electrical goods, volunteers are urgently needed
to help out in a variety of roles, including working
in the warehouse as well as with sales, telephone
calls and administration.
Volunteers at the BHF not only help support a
worthy cause but also gain excellent transferrable
skills which can help to build your CV if you are
looking to broaden your working experience.
If you are willing to dedicate your skills and time,
even if it is just a couple of hours a week, then be
sure to pop in and speak with a member of staff
at the store or call on 01983 623190.
If you’re looking for an
interesting, enjoyable day out
this summer then look no
further than the Isle of Wight
National Trust, which has
pretty much something for
everyone to enjoy during the
holiday month of August.
If you’re looking for a cultural visit,
head for Bembridge Windmill or
Newton Old Town Hall, and find out all
about the fascinating history of these
two very different locations.
For military history, and the most
spectacular view of the Needles, go to
the Needles Old and New Batteries. Or
if you just want to chill out in beautiful
surroundings, then you’ll probably love
Mottistone Gardens.
For children and families during
August the National Trust have ‘50
things to do before you’re 11 3/4’
activities, which are taking place on
Tuesdays at Mottistone Gardens,
Wednesday mornings at Newtown
National Nature Reserve, Wednesday
afternoons at Bembridge Windmill,
Thursday afternoons at the Needles
Old Battery and Fridays at Newtown
National Nature Reserve.
If you enjoy art, then ‘As We See It’
an exhibition of watercolours by local
artist Angela Hewitt is for you. It takes
place at Newtown Old Town Hall from
Tuesday 5th September to Thursday
19th October, open 2 - 5pm each day.
