Summer fun at
Ryde School
The summer holidays are upon Ryde School but the School is filled with activity . The new Summer School is proving very popular with both local and international children , with activities such as horse riding , sailing , cooking , sports and many other activities and day trips as part of the package .
Children , both local and international are also residing at the School ’ s boarding houses for the duration of the Summer School and can therefore enjoy even more fun in the evenings of BBQ ’ s , beach excursions and games . On site there is a hive of activity improving and adding to the School ’ s facilities . Last summer the School developed a new Sixth Form centre , two newly-fitted Chemistry labs , a new Sixth Form boarding house and a new Outdoor Learning centre ; this summer work is underway to deliver two newly-fitted Physics labs , a newly refurbished and redesigned English block , an extensive new computer lab and a new sound-proof drum , percussion and band practice building . With A Level and GCSE results due later in August , Ryde pupils who took the International Baccalaureate ( IB ) for their Sixth Form course are already celebrating with a points average of 35 points , the UCAS equivalent of A * AAA at A Level ( the world average is 29.88 ). At the top end , five of the fifteen pupils got the equivalent of four A * s at A level or higher ; Charlotte Day achieved 41 points , Head Girl Heidi Hamilton and Alex Enderle both achieved 39 points and Sasha Brytova and Iryna Fedenko both achieved 38 points .
