h Food and drink The upgrade – which was finished in time for the Isle of Wight Festival – has certainly turned around the hotel’s fortunes, with occupancy levels surging ahead. Matthew, who has a 25 year history of successfully running bars and hotels, including Island venues such as the Union Inn and Bertie’s at Cowes, and Ruby’s at Seaview, says the level of business bookings is especially promising, and includes repeat bookings from some of the Island’s blue chip companies. “Newport is the hub of the Island and it’s good that we now have this level of accommodation in such a prominent central location. “By actively catering to the business market as well as the leisure customer, we’re aiming to sustain this high level of bookings all the year round.” Aug/Sep 2016_MASTER .indd 105 www. visitilife.com 105 16/08/2016 15:22
