the Island Race with the magnificent
classics Eleanora and Coral of Cowes
amongst the 1,593 boats sailed by
around 16,000 competitors.
Beautiful sunny skies and a moderate
to strong south westerly brought
splendid sights of the spinnaker
bedecked fleet as they sailed from the

First across the line at 10.40am
after only three hours, 30 mins and
24 seconds was the MOD70 trimaran
Consise 10 with the first monohull line
honours being taken by Mike Slade’s
supermaxi Leopard in four hours, 40
minutes and 34 seconds.
