EDUCATION
Acting successful at Ryde School
E
xams are over and the summer
holidays are upon Ryde School.
Filming for the English Cricket
Board, the Senior School Art Exhibition,
brilliantly run mock elections, Founder’s
Day and the 100th expedition for the
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award were all
highlights of the Summer Term with
awards won for Global Rock and Young
Enterprise. Many pupils excelled in their
favourite sport with pupils representing
the UK in Sailing and the county in
Athletics.
The most eye-catching of the events
of the summer was the truly polished
performance of the Senior School
musical. A Disney first for Ryde School,
Beauty & the Beast proved to be a
visual and musical feast with clever
choreography and glorious singing.
From the first note to the final curtain, it
was clear that pupils had rehearsed and
pushed themselves to their creative limits

with spectacular results.
‘“A highly professional and enjoyable
show” said one member of the audience.
Four performances, a packed house for
every single show and a standing ovation
for every evening performance, the cast
really showed what they were made
of. Mary Harding as Belle and Michael
Ginsburg as the Beast pulled audiences
effortlessly into their world with the rest
of the cast capturing and performing
their roles brilliantly.
The forth-coming Autumn Term is set
to be a busy and productive time with
Open Morning on October 3 and the
Careers Fair on October 10. Please come
and join Ryde School and see what they
have to offer.
