Passion
for cakes

family’s passion for cakes
has been turned into a funky
young business in Newport.
Since it opened earlier this year,
Hannah’s Cakes in Pyle Street has
been wowing customers with its
fantastic selections of cupcakes,
and its wildly imaginative designs
in decorated wedding and occasion
cakes.
The business, run by Joseph, has
a dedicated cake making team,
including his sister Hannah.
The roots of their love of cakes go
back to their late nan, Iris Homewood.
Iris was a keen member of the
Sugarcraft Guild, and made scores
of special occasion cakes during her

lifetime, for family and friends.
As the eldest grandchild, Hannah
was often to be found helping her
in the kitchen, and picking up her
expert methods.
Now Hannah, Joe and the team
are turning out cakes that nan would
have been proud of, with around 35
flavours of cupcake on offer in the
shop, and a growing portfolio of the
special occasion designs they have
created for delighted customers.
