OUT & ABOUT IW Scooter Rally O nce again hundreds of scooters will descend upon Ryde on August Bank Holiday, 28 - 31. It’s a great weekend, and with the spectacular ride out on Sunday morning. Definitely worth going to see. Cowes Week C owes week this year is being held between August 8-15. Apart from the racing taking place on the Solent there are many things available on the shore during the days and evenings. The event is a great mix of competitive sailing and a vibrant social scene and has evolved enormously since the early days; it now attracts up to 1,000 competing boats, around 8,500 competitors and at least 100,000 visitors. Big nights out! B lackgang Chine is open Monday & Wednesday evenings during the school holidays. A whole evening of dinosaur entertainment will take place every Monday until August 31 from 6 9.30pm. Meet Shadow & Sheila and their baby dino friends - all with personalities of their own! Back by popular demand, their famous ‘Big Night Out’ Fireworks Extravaganza will take place every Wednesday until August 26. Enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment! Ryde Carnival C arnivals abound throughout August and September with the Ryde one taking place on Thursday August 27, 7 - 9pm. Ryde children’s carnival will take place the day before on Wednesday 26, 3 4pm and Ryde illuminated carnival is on Saturday, September 5 from 8.30 - 10.30pm. Wolverton Manor Garden Fair S et in the beautiful grounds of Wolverton Manor the garden fair takes place on September 5 and 6. Featuring over 120 Island and mainland exhibitors who represent a wide range of gardening and country arts and crafts. Elizabethan re-enactors come every year to perform Elizabethan dancing, still room activities and an apothecarys pavilion. IW Sweetcorn Fayre T he annual Sweetcorn Fayre will be held again at Arreton Barns. Raising money for Beaulieu Respite and Challenge & Adventure, the traditional village fete will host an array of vintage craft stalls, fairground rides and plenty for the children to enjoy. Taking place this year on the 26 - 27 September, experience all that corn has to offer with giant fritters, competitions, games, a bbq and much, much more!
