Hop along to VBG...
The annual Hops Festival will take
place at Ventnor Botanic Garden on
September 21.
Visitors are invited to go along and
celebrate another successful harvest
of the hops grown at VBG and crack
open a bottle of Botanic Ale. With a
local produce market, live music and
children’s activities, the whole family
can chill out in the Garden and enjoy
some late summer sun.
Lazy Sundays at VBG will also
run every Sunday until August 31.
Sit down to a lazy Sunday brunch,
followed by a sizzling barbecue
and live music in the stunning
surroundings of Ventnor Botanic
Garden. The brunch is served from
10am and is suitable for all the
family.

Island residents are being
given the opportunity
to have their jewellery
valued by a representative
of world famous auction
house Christie’s. Jewellery
specialist Francesca
Valentini will be on the
Island on Wednesday,
August 20 and Thursday,
August 21.
Islanders are being asked
to contact Christie’s as
soon as possible to arrange
a complimentary and
confidential valuation of
your jewellery. The auction
will then take place in
London’s King Street on

School disco... for adults
A ‘School Disco’, strictly for adults
over 18, is being held at Ventnor
Winter Gardens on Saturday,
August 16, in aid of the Joe Ellis
Trust. The Tony Martin Music Show
and Xtreme Vertigo are staging
the event, where dress code is
‘school uniform - not compulsory
but positively encouraged’. Preschool drinks are from 8pm with
detention until 2am. Tickets are
£7.50 if bought in advance or £10
on the night, and there will also be
a tuck shop, school photos and a
prize draw.
Gala dinner raises
money for youngsters
St Catherine’s School and Ventnor Rotary have
joined forces to stage a Gala Dinner. The Royal Yacht
Squadron is the venue for the dinner and charity
auction on Saturday, October 4.
The black tie event will raise funds for Ventnor
Rotary’s chosen charity, YMCA Young Carers,
which supports 250 children on the Island, and St
Catherine’s work with children and young people
with speech, language and communication needs.
Alongside a delicious four-course meal, guests will
be able to bid for exclusive lots in a charity auction.
The evening will begin at 6.30pm and tickets for
the event will cost £75 for an aperitif, meal and

St. Catherine’s centre in Ventnor encompasses a
specialist school and sixth form centre, intensive
speech and language therapy, excellent residential
provision and a comprehensive vocational training
