New development coming to Bembridge
Planning permission has been granted
for a new Later Living development
in Bembridge. McCarthy & Stone,
the UK’s leading retirement property
developer, has been given the go-ahead
to build an attractive collection of 40
apartments exclusively for those aged
60 and above.
The one and two bedroom privately
owned retirement properties will be
ideally situated on Church Road, a
short distance from the village’s shops
and local amenities. Construction on
site is due to start in December with
apartments due to be released for sale
in the summer of next year and first
occupations in the winter 2014.
Shane Paull, regional managing
director for McCarthy & Stone said:
“Everything we do is built around
a belief that later life can be rich,
rewarding and fulfilling, which is
why we’re thrilled to be bringing a
new offering to the town. We believe
it is an opportunity to rediscover
the things you love and explore new
territory. Helping people make the
most of it is our purpose and our
passion, so on a daily basis we strive to
think differently and care more about
transforming later life.”
With over 35 years of experience,
McCarthy & Stone has become
Britain’s leading provider of retirement
apartments, having built more
than 45,000 apartments in 1,000
different schemes. Its Later Living
developments offer the independence
of retaining home ownership while
living in an apartment specifically
designed for later life.
Facilities include a shared lounge,
guest suite, laundry room and a lift. A
dedicated house manager ensures the
smooth running of the development
and a security entrance system plus
24-hour emergency call points provide
peace of mind for both residents and
their families. All properties are low
maintenance and energy efficient.
In addition to offering age exclusive
apartments, the retirement developer
also provides a range of financial
services, including a pension annuity
service, equity release, legal services
and guaranteed funeral plans.

Will the soaring temperatures help
'heat up' the property market?
Giles Muddles
Summer has firmly taken a grip
with the Hampshire and Isle of
Wight market place being bathed
in extended periods of glorious
sunshine. This welcome weather
window is certainly being embraced,
we have seen people head for the
beaches and take a degree of time
out from heavy house hunting.
The positive impact is that the
remaining buyers active in the
market are certainly motivated and
we have seen numerous deals
come together on the mainland
and also, more recently, on the
Island from those who are using this
fabulous spell to explore some of
the finest property the Isle of Wight
has to offer.
Recently we launched Woodlands
Vale at a guide of £2.75 million.
