Last Night of the
Proms at Shanklin
The Last Night of the Proms is coming to the
Regatta at Seaview
The Seaview Regatta is one of the
unusual to see a Baroness in the sack

host to a wonderful, life-affirming mix of
hi-jinx both on and off the water.
This year the event takes place
on August 20 to 22, finishing with a
fireworks display at 9.35pm on the
Thursday evening.
The Regatta features rowing, diving,
running, swimming, tug-of-war and the
famous walking of the greasy pole. In
true English eccentric fashion, it’s not
Island after all! Following the cancellation of
the Proms at Osborne, great effort has taken to
secure the world famous British Philharmonic
Orchestra at Shanklin Theatre to present a
rousing ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert.
This is the Orchestra’s first visit to the Island
and it comes during September which is of
course traditionally ''Prom Season''. Presented
in the newly refurbished Shanklin Theatre it will
be an evening the whole family can enjoy.
Featuring a 33-piece orchestra, the evening
will consist of a mixture of famous works
classical, modern and film/Musical plus the
traditional ‘Last Night’ Pomp and Circumstance.
So it is time to look out your flags, whistles
and hats and have a night of entertainment.
