Michelangelo
has the sauce!
Michelangelo Tomato Sauce Day
proved very popular when it was
held recently at the Michelangelo
Italian Restaurant and Deli Café
in Ryde.
An indoor market was held to
sell the homemade Michelangelo
tomato sauce, the very one
traditionally cooked by chef
Dante Poli, which is made with
Isle of Wight tomatoes and
which is the base of many dishes
on the menu at the restaurant.
Guests were invited to taste
several mouthwatering pasta
dishes while they were told
how to make them using the
Michelangelo tomato sauce.
The recipes included
Amatriciana, a simple but tasty
dish typical of Rome region,
and one of the most popular
in that area. There were also
Mediterranea, Pastore, Portofino
and Arrabbiata to sample.
The Michelangelo restaurant
can be found at the west end of
Ryde seafront. It serves a fine
variety of authentic Italian food
with specialities such as pasta,
pizza, veal, lamb, chicken, fish,
seafood, as well as vegetarian
dishes and homemade desserts.
