Tasty Italian treats begin new era
Michelangelo’s Restaurant in
Ryde recently began a new era
with the introduction of popular
Michelangelo’s Coffee.
The new premises, adjoining the
original restaurant, is a delicatessen
and café, opening for Continental
breakfast, and serving a fine
selection of Italian coffees and
pastries throughout the day. Then
in the evening it transforms into an
extension of the restaurant, providing
extra space and more than doubling
the covers from 32 to over 70.
Michelangelo’s was opened 12 years
ago by Dante and Annamaria Poli and
partner Rosanna Pancot, who come
from the Emilia-Romagna region of
Italy, well known for its culinary art.
Annamaria explained: “We now have
two rooms, connected by an internal
door, and we are very pleased at the
way Michelangelo’s Coffee has been
received.
“The cafe opens at 10.0am for
breakfasts, and we do light lunches
from 12.0 to 3.0pm. It remains open
for coffee and homemade pastries
until 5.0pm when it becomes part of
the restaurant, which stays open until
11.0pm.”
Michelangelo’s, which is closed each
Wednesday, has a staff of 12, and
serves authentic Italian food, prepared
by a genuine Italian chef, with
specialties such as pasta, pizza, veal,
lamb, chicken, fish, seafood, as well
as vegetarian dishes and homemade
