New High Sheriff plays host

The High Sheriff Peter Kingston and his
wife Gillian held a reception at Farringford,
Freshwater, the former home of Alfred
Lord Tennyson, which is being carefully
restored to its original state by its new
owners. Around 150 guests were invited,
representing businesses, voluntary
organisations, the courts, the police,
together with past High Sheriffs and
representatives of the Lieutenancy of the

Island. The favourable weather meant that
the guests could enjoy the beautiful grounds
and views to Freshwater Bay and the downs
beyond.
The High Sheriff’s Reception is an
opportunity to acknowledge the contribution
that is made to the life of the Isle of the
Wight by so many people, many of whom
work tirelessly with very little recognition.
