fashion health & beauty Island Life - August/September 2010 Top yoga teachers make Emma's camp a huge success Emma Spencer Goodier A three-day Yoga Camp, staged at Nunwell Farm, proved a huge success, according to organiser Emma Spencer-Goodier, and a similar venture is already planned for next year. The weekend embraced some of the best yoga teachers from the Island as well as some inspired ones from the mainland, centred on one enormous yurt and marquees. Around 75 attended, including families, with a specific programme designed for children that included yoga, circus skills, belly dancing and art. Emma, a highly respected and long established teacher from Ryde and senior Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance, is passionate about promoting the local yoga talent on the Island. She said: "I travel widely with my yoga business and keep coming back to the fact that, we don't need to be looking to the mainland or overseas for our inspiration, we have some really gifted and inspirational teachers right here on the Island.” She added: “Paul Wastall, the creator of the enormous and beautiful yurt worked tirelessly, to finish what can only be described as a work of art. It was like practicing yoga in the Albert Hall, but with nature all around us." Emma will be launching the event for 2011 at The London Yoga Show in November, followed by another camp on the Island on July 1, 2 and 3 next year.
