life OUT AND ABOUT Anything Goes with a Bang at Ryde School A joyful evening of high comedy and spectacle was enjoyed when Ryde School presented its annual musical production to full houses at Ryde Theatre. Anything Goes has to be one of the most delicious musicals ever written. Based on a work by PG Wodehouse, and demanding a high level of musicality and comic timing, the cast were utterly Kit Courage Lizzie Lawn Oliver Gully & Lewis Gask Collette Stirzaker Angharad Evans Cast Members Lewis Gask, Angharad Evans, Oliver Gully 50 secure from start to finish. Indeed, professional is the word that characterises the school’s work. Although many of the chorus and some of the principals are very young, within minutes, you sense that the audience has relaxed, confident that it doesn’t need to hold its breath nervously for the ‘school production’ but that it’s in the presence of something much more mature. Professional singer Jacqueline Morris says: “it was the best amateur production I have ever seen and it rivalled some professional shows." Ryde School productions deserve to be written into your diary well in advance. With one Cole Porter classic after another, Collette Stirzaker as Reno Sweeney was as sure footed as any West End professional, her beautiful voice captivating audiences from her first note.
