Holiday home turned
into a business
He had hundreds of islands to choose from in his native Greece
– but when businessman Dr. Tacis Gavoyannis wanted to buy a
holiday hideaway, it was to the Isle of Wight that he came.

Tacis, whose wife Josie was born in Newport,
says: “My friends and family in Greece find it
hysterical that I chose to invest in this island.”
“They say to me ‘But we have 778 islands in
Greece – is that not enough for you to choose
from?”’
Tacis can also see the funny side – but as he
points out: “I guess it is because the UK is now
home for me”.
