Opera Night
at Priory
Guests arrived in style at the Priory
Bay Hotel, coming by hovercraft and
helicopters for a June evening of
champagne and opera in aid of two
deserving charities.
These were the Lucie Blackman
Trust, which educates women
and young people to use high-tech
personal safety devices, and the Kit
Hobday St Mary’s Chemotherapy
Appeal, which is raising funds
to make the experience of
chemotherapy more comfortable at
their new Chemotherapy Unit.
The evening’s menu started
with canapes and Champagne,
and was followed by a selection
of dishes using classic local
ingredients such as Bembridge blue
lobster, asparagus, duck eggs and
strawberries
Then followed the opera, Johann
Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (the flying
mouse, ie. the bat), which was
performed magnificently by Opera
Box.
Afterwards, Andrew Palmer,
owner of The Priory Bay thanked
everyone who took part - especially
the guests who contributed towards
two successful evenings. He says
he plans to run a similar event next
