Say Happy Birthday to mischievous Minka , the Rhesus Macaque who will be turning 7 years old on the 6th May . And why not make use of your free return on the 7th May and join them for some Meerkat mayhem where they will be celebrating sweet Savannah turning 3 years old . There will be parties with treats , sing-songs , and wrapped pressies ,
along with healthy cakes that the keepers bake especially for the lucky animals to share . On 7th May and 28th May , the Isle of Wight Bat Hospital will be flying by to introduce you to some rescued bats . Charity dinner & auction
Ryde School are hosting a charity dinner and auction on Friday 27th April , at 7pm , with all proceeds donated to Virgin Unite ’ s hurricane recovery work , helping the British Virgin Islands after Hurricane Irma . Chef Robert Thompson and his team will be providing the three course dinner , yachtsman Geoff Holt is the guest speaker and Derek Sandy will be entertaining all with his music . IOW Farrier Championships
2018 sees the return of the IOW Farrier Championships to Lake Farm , Rookley at the end of August . This exhilarating spectacular is a must see for locals and tourists alike , with the mix of fire , hot metal , sweat and smoke !! Up to 100 competitors from across the country and abroad are expected to attend , as well as industry suppliers and a good attendance of spectators . They are seeking to gain sponsorship for this year ’ s competition from local businesses . Business names will be added to all advertising , space for banners provided at the venue during the event and even a stall if required .
