Brading Haven Yacht Club.
He said it was the memory of that
Disneyland experience that has
driven him on during the months of
training.
“Make a Wish is obviously a very
dear charity to us and we’re grateful

in their shoes.”
These days, he and the family are

Bembridge Harbour – which means
his plans for winding down have been
put on hold for a while yet.
“It’s not quite the retirement we
expected when we moved here”
he says. “But the aim was to move
away from the bustle of London and
improve our quality of life, and we’ve
certainly done that.
“The Island is a beautiful place.
We came for a wedding anniversary
weekend four years ago and instantly
loved it, so I suppose you could say
the move here was pretty impulsive –
but we certainly have no regrets”.
