Gala dinner at Newclose
T
he inaugural Gift to Nature gala dinner was held at The
Pavilion, Newclose County Cricket Ground on February
27. Using local food and featuring the prestigious Wight
Marque, chef Alan Staley and team served a three course dinner
to over sixty guests, including a table of hungry diners who had
earlier spent the day at the hedgelaying competition.
An auction, presided over by Becky Ball, and raffle featured
prizes generously donated by local businesses including Camp
Bestival tickets, a Goodleaf Treeclimbing adventure, a hamper
from the Tomato Stall and even a trailer load of firewood from
Landscape Therapy. Toe-tapping music was provided by talented
local folk stars Second Time Around. The event raised well over
four thousand pounds and was a great chance to celebrate Gift to
Nature and the work it does to maintain the Island’s special areas.
Save the date for next year, Feb 25, 2017, the same date as the
hedgelaying competition! For more information about Gift to
