ADVERTORIAL As fresh as it gets F ood doesn’t come much fresher than John Day’s selection at the Delysia Farm Shop in Brading - in fact he catches, collects, grows and prepares most of it himself. On display at the rustic-looking hand-built timber kiosk that he opened just a year ago, you’ll find everything from delectable-looking, pristine vegetables picked that day to free range duck, goose and chicken eggs, and his own freshly caught crab and lobster from Bembridge Ledge. The crab can be bought dressed or in a pot and there’s also the option of a tub of white meat, which is an unusual touch. Half of all the fruit and vegetables on offer at the quirkylooking shop are grown at the Days’ farm, with the rest all being grown locally. He also produces home-smoked products on site - in the winter smoking wild game such as pheasant and partridge, and throughout the summer, fresh salmon and trout. The family also make their own crab cakes and crab pate, and can supply sushi grade salmon. For lovers of good food, and devotees of keeping trade local, you could say that this shop is manna from heaven. Find the Delysia Farm Shop on Carpenters Road, Brading (next to Oasis).
