INTERVIEW
A perfect blend
A
summer garden party at the
St. Lawrence home of Sam
and Anne Twining will serve
up an exquisite blend of flowers and
plants, woven together with some
stunning large scale works of art.
Sculptor and painter Lisa Traxler has been
invited to install five of her trademark vitreous
enamel and steel sculptures within the seven
acre garden landscape at Wolverton House,
along with a number of acrylic abstract
paintings on canvas, for the charity f und-raising
event on June 13.
Lisa, a former fashion editor and costume
designer, moved to the Isle of Wight from
London 10 years ago. She began painting whilst
living on a houseboat, and says her work as an
artist was always inspired by a sense of place and
her environment.
She has exhibited widely in the UK but
regularly shows her work on the Island and takes
appointments in her studio all year round.
Of the invitation from Sam and Anne Twining
Lisa said “I feel very privileged to be asked
to install my sculptures in such a stunning
landscape. My daily walks with my little dog
around St. Lawrence always refresh and inspire
me and to bring my work, which is based on
emotional response, to this healing tranquil
garden setting is a wonderful way of uniting the
