ISLAND LIFE MAGAZINE 'Red Hot' IW Festival This year’s Isle of Wight Festival, at Seaclose Park, Newport from June 12 to 15, has an eclectic mix of world class headliners including the only show in the UK from the iconic Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2014. Anthemic rock trio Biffy Clyro, superstar DJ Calvin Harris and a UK Festival exclusive set from Kings of Leon will be among the worldrenowned acts at the annual music extravaganza, that attracts tens of thousands of revellers from the Island Adventure at Robin Hill Robin Hill has some amazing new ‘adventure’ activities planned to keep all the family entertained – not forgetting the famous Mad Easter Egg Dash! New for 2014 are the ‘Days of Adventure’ where visitors can ‘test their aim’ at archery and ‘get hands on’ with fire lighting and survival skills as part of the Bushcraft activities. There are also Mountain boarding taster sessions. All activities are included in admission price and free returns. The Days of Adventure take place Friday, April 11 and 18; May 26 to 30, and every Friday from July 25 to August 29. Robin Hill’s ‘Mad Easter Egg Dash’ is at midday on April 20 and 21. Tickets are on sale now from www. isleofwightfestival.com Claire gets on her bike Claire Dinsdale from Godshill will be getting on her bike on May 31 to raise money for charity. Claire will be one of around 2,000 women taking part in a 100-kilometre night ride around Windsor and London in aid of breast cancer, ovarian and cervical cancer. Another Islander Vanessa Adams is also taking part. Claire has already raised about £1,000 in sponsorship and hopes to swell the funds at an Evening Picnic at the Newclose Cricket Ground marquee, Newport on Saturday, May 3. People can take their own food, and pay for a table, and entertainment will by local group Cornerstones and solo singer Alan Pratt, with Claire’s father Paul St John Martin the Master of Ceremonies. There’s something for everyone at the Spring Plant Fayre. A huge range of rare and subtropical plants, trees and seeds, most propagated and grown at Ventnor Botanic Garden will be on offer.
