FOOD The Ale and Oyster is thriving T he Ale and Oyster, situated in prime position on Ventnor Esplanade, is thriving under the new ownership of local team Sean Puttick and Jimmy Brown. Since re-opening the popular haunt, Sean and Jimmy have worked to create a comfortable, stylish environment, whether it be for a formal evening dinner or a casual, social gathering between friends. Sean,who has been in hospitality for many years, said: “We always wanted a seafront location, and Ventnor was the obvious choice as we feel it is fast becoming the food capital of the Island.” The Ale and Oyster are pleased to have Daniel Mitchard on the team as head chef, with his creative but uncomplicated menu. Sean continued: “We strive to use local and seasonal produce where possible for our select but varied menu. We aim to change our menu every two to three weeks, looking for and using the ever changing seasonal produce.” The new-look interior of the Ale and Oyster was designed and executed by Sean and Jimmy, and the establishment serves a wide range of spirits, wines and beers, as well as offering a range of cocktails. There is also the facility at the front of the building to allow customers to sit and enjoy coffee or lunch overlooking the sea, or simply watch the sun
