Suzuki Sx4 S-Cross
Test driven on the Island by Peter White
With Crossover vehicles becoming ever
more popular with Island drivers, it is
fitting that Suzuki have added to the
options with the impressive Sx4 S-Cross
range.
And there really is something for all
tastes, with no fewer than 13 options
to choose from, with a starting price of
just £14,999 OTR. The S-Cross exteriors
are sleek and expertly crafted to help
the aerodynamic flow and increase fuel
economy.
But it is inside the cabin that the S-Cross
really catches the eye. It has a feeling of
space, and the firm, but comfortable seats
are elevated to give a clear all-round view.
The controls are within easy reach,
and the middle-of-the-range 1.6-litre
SZ-T model I drove, courtesy of Hale
Common Suzuki, has a number of
added advantages, including keyless
entry and start.
There is also state-of-the-art satellite
navigation, smart 17-inch alloy wheels
and an extremely clear rear parking
camera to help navigate into those tight
spaces that are commonplace due to
other people’s selfish parking habits.
The SZ-T two-wheel drive is petrol
driven, with an uncomplicated five-speed
manual box, and combined MPG of more
than 51; its urban figures coming out at
an impressive 41.5 MPG. This particular
model comes in at £17,749 OTR, with the
top-of-the-range SZ5 Allgrip, a six-speed
manual, costing £23,549 OTR.
There are a lot of Suzuki admirers on
the Island who will feel there is definitely
one in the range tailored to suit their
needs, while any Suzuki ‘newcomers’ will
sure to be impressed with its style, agility,
safety and value for money.
