Tom's exciting Osborne Mix!
Welsh singing legend Sir Tom Jones and
the country’s top girl pop band Little
Mix will provide an eclectic and exciting
mix of music when they appear in
back-to-back concerts at Osborne House
this summer.
Having been forced to cancel his
scheduled visit here in 2012, Tom Jones
will headline Osborne on Sunday July
27, the night after Little Mix bring their
dynamic act to the same venue.
John Giddings, organiser of Osborne
House and the Isle Of Wight Festival, is
thrilled to have teamed up with Annie
Horne and Green Eye Events, Riverside
Productions and English Heritage to put
on this unique weekend. He said: ”I can't
think of a more perfect summer evening
than Tom in the grounds of Osborne
House; Queen Victoria would be proud
of us.”
Tom Jones, who will be 74 a few weeks
before his Osborne House appearance,
has thrilled fans worldwide since he
became one of the most popular
vocalists to emerge from the
mid-1960s. Since then he
has sung nearly every
form of popular music
and sold over 100
million records.
He has had no
fewer than 36 Top
40 hits in the United
Kingdom alone and a
further 19 in the United
States. In his early days he
became famous for belting out
such popular numbers as ‘It's Not
Unusual’, ‘What's New Pussycat’, ‘Delilah
and ‘Green, Green Grass of Home’. But
he aways managed to move with the
times, and hits that have included ‘She's
a Lady’, ‘Kiss and ‘Sex Bomb’ followed.
Having been awarded an OBE in 1999,
Tom became Sir Tom when he received a
knighthood from the Queen for services
to music in 2006.
He has received numerous other
awards throughout his career, including
the Grammy Award for Best New Artist
in 1966, an MTV Video Music Award in
1989 and two Brit Awards – winning
Best British
Male, in 2000,
and Outstanding
Contribution to
Music, in 2003. Mor P
