Thermal Auricular Therapy (the technical name) can be used to treat all sorts of ailments or conditions relating to the ears, and I have to say I was really intrigued into how this treatment worked and what the results would show. The candle, made from flax or cotton that has been impregnated with Bees wax and various therapeutic oils, is burned at a 45 degree angle, for around 10 minutes per ear. After just getting over a cold, it was the ideal therapy! At first I was a little unsure, but the experience was very relaxing. Once the ear candling was complete, I was given a drainage massage which helps to aid the sinuses and unblock the tubes. The results... 'Ideal therapy' My right ear had a lot of dense powder, yet only a bit of wax, possibly due to the fact I had just had a cold. The left ear had no residue of wax left over, but again there was a dense amount of powder, which may have been slight inflammation of the inner ear, due to the cold. I was recommended treatment once a week for three weeks.
