EQUESTRIAN Be aware - Join in the BHS Access Week fun and help raise awareness 120 www.visitislandlife.com Launched in 1999 and held annually in May, The British Horse Society’s Access Week gives staff, volunteers and affiliated bridleways groups the opportunity to raise the profile of the work they carry out in defending, extending and promoting the equestrian off-road network. This year, Access Week runs from May 18-27. Off-road riding is important to, and regularly used by, equestrians of all background and disciplines. Whether you like to have fun by hacking with friends, exploring the countryside, or are exercising your next elite showjumper or eventer, every horse, rider and carriage driver has the right to access safe off-road routes. Every day the BHS Rights of Way team, supported by its network of more than 200 Bridleway Officers and 130 Affiliated Bridleway Groups, work hard for the rights of every horse and rider to have access to safe, enjoyable, off-road routes. The BHS strives to give equestrians a voice in government proposals and parliamentary decisions by lobbying
