Shoeing clinic
Would-be world champions warm up for
Calgary trip with a session at Brickfields
Island farrier Simon Legge was joined
by six other farriers from the mainland
for a Shoeing and Shoe Making clinic
at Brickfields.
Jonathan Nunn, from Staffordshire,
who has won many competitions in
this country and abroad, was on hand
to give useful advice and tips to the
farriers, several of whom will be off to
Calgary in July for the annual World
Championships.
The many horses at Brickfields gave
the farriers plenty to work on, and as
Simon said: “That was a big advantage,
because in all there are probably more
than 500 different types of shoes,
including high heels!
“We had farriers down from Wales,
Newbury, Gloucestershire and Sussex,
and they all found it a very useful
exercise and ideal practice for the
forthcoming World Championships.”
