popular as
ever

The Citroen Berlingo has been a
popular choice in the van market for
some time and many are seen on Island
roads.
Having driven the new Berlingo,
courtesy of our friends at Central
Garage, Newport, it’s clear to see why
they are so in demand.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure what to
expect when I went to collect it. But
when I took it out on the road and had

a closer look inside, all the benefits of
this highly practical van started to shine
through.
One thing that did strike me straight
away was the fact that there was no
rear view mirror. But then I looked
behind and it all became clear. No rear
windows so no need for a mirror – this
is a van and doesn’t try to disguise the
fact.
There are several different petrol and
diesel Berlingo variations available,
including X and LX petrol engines and
the X, LX, XTR+ and Enterprise diesel
versions. The model I got to test drive
was the X 1.6HDi with 75bhp and a top
speed of 92mph.
The Berlingo is the ultimate small van
with a deceptively large amount of load
space. In fact, there is 851kg payload
and a very useful 4.1 cubic metres of
inner space on the panel vans. The new
