Never has the phrase "embrace technology" been more
appropriate than at Island Auction Rooms. Indeed the
installation of live bidding during the Antique & Fine Art sales
has been a big eye opener to Warren Riches and Tim Smith the two auctioneers.
Warren Riches said: " It’s incredible to think now that we
have buyers in China, Hong Kong and Australia sitting at
home, watching us live on the web cam and able to bid as
if they were in the room." This type of technology enables
customers to bid real time on any lots during the auction.
Island Auction Rooms recruited Tom Wilson to run the bidding
consol. He is the interface between the online bidders and
the auctioneers. Warren said: "The move has been incredible,
with over 200 people extra just doing live bidding the bidding
has become ferocious!!" This has a knock on effect on the
end price our vendors get-naturally they are delighted."
