Gala dinner raises funds for new HQ
A Gala Dinner and auction was held at the Royal Yacht
Squadron to raise funds for Cowes Sea Cadets' new HQ.
Amongst the guests were Lord Lieutenant of the Island
Maj.Gen. Martin White and Mrs Fiona White, and guest
speaker Admiral Sir Trevor Soar, Commander-in-Chief Fleet,
accompanied by Lady Soar.
During the champagne reception, guests were entertained
on the keyboards by A/C Dandy Marvin.
Nick Bonham was the auctioneer and donated Lots
including A Day At Sea in a Type 45 Destroyer as guests of
the Commanding Officer, a flight in a Stearman with Air
Marshal Cliff Spink and the chance to participate in a sail
race between Olympic Gold Medalist Sarah Gosling and her
husband, World Champion Adam Gosling.
Margaret Plumley, Chairman of Cowes Sea Cadets said
the combined proceeds from the Gala Dinner was around
£15,000.
