island business Island Life - April/May 2011 Move proves a success for Andrea Lesley Andrea Lesley Soft Furnishings have built a fine reputation on the Island for the quality of work they produce and the personal service they offer. Andrea has been in business on the Island for around 16 years, and she and her husband Mark Chiverton moved into their workshop in Bembridge three-and-a-half years ago. She said: "It has been a successful move because we have been really well supported by the village, which is very important, but we also offer an Island-wide service. "We sell fabric, and if someone comes to speak to us we can go along to have a look at their rooms and the style they require; measure up and then help choose the fabrics and the design, and then make and fit the products." Andrea and Mark ensure attention to detail in all aspects of their work. Mark makes and fits any pelmets and poles that are required, and Andrea fits all the curtains herself to make sure everything is too the highest standard. She said: "I want everything to look the best it possibly can. It is very important to me that everyone is happy with the finished product." Andrea Lesley also supply and fit roller blinds and venetian blinds, as well as cushions and headboards, the latter being designed by the couple and fitted by Mark. Other services include loose covers and upholstery of sofas. All soft furnishings are made to measure, with fabrics well displayed in books. The turnaround time for fabrics is usually a week to 10 days, and completed soft furnishing items are ready for fitting in about six weeks. Anyone visiting the renowned Royal Hotel in Ventnor will have seen the quality and style of Andrea's work, as she has supplied and fitted their soft furnishings for the past 16 years. Andrea Lesley Soft Furnishings have recently moved premises, but can still be found in Weavers Yard, Bembridge, now located at Unit 6. Little Hayes, which is situated at Church Hill, now offers day care service. Manager Mandy Saunders explained: “People who need to can now come in and spend the day with us, and maybe take a bath or just relax and have a meal, and give their family a little rest at the same time. “Hopefully this facility will take a little bit of pressure off a family who may be caring for an elderly person, and just need a day off for a break or even make a trip out.” The Care Home has also acquired a seven-seater people carrier so residents can be taken out for trips and to appointments, instead of using the voluntary car service. Mandy said: “Now we have the people carrier, we can also make pick-ups in the West Wight area for anyone who wishes to come to us for day care.” As well as catering for day care visitors, from around 8.0am until 5.0pm, Little Hayes Care Home, which was established in 1965, can accommodate 34 full-time residents, offering a 24-hour all-inclusive care service, in relaxed and comfortable surroundings for all categories of the elderly. Mandy, who has worked at Little Visit our new website - www.visitislandlife.com Hayes for 23 years, and has been the manager for the past seven years, continued: “Whether it is for a short rest or long stay we are here to help. Members of families can come along at any time to visit residen G2
