life BREAKING NEWS FOREWORD friends met in the Jolly Sailor Pub at Bursledon and planned a race for gaff rigged craft. This race, held in the Solent on the 27th June 1959, proved to be popular and became an annual event. So this, will be the 50th anniversary of the resurgence of gaff rigged racing in the Solent, which in turn led to the formation of The Old Gaffers Association four years later. The front cover of the programme and the posters features a scene of Yarmouth from the sea depicting 'Iseult'. This is part of an oil painting by Myles Mence. Of course there will be the usual selection of stalls, including the continental market in The Square and Arts and Crafts Marquee on The Green.
