“’Classic luxury conveniences’
is how we like to describe
them,” says Rob Kingswell
discreetly. In fact discretion
could be his middle name.
All the time he talks about
the portable lavatories (we
can’t besmirch these superior
washrooms with the word
porta-anything) provided by
R&R Containers to social
functions you almost forget
they have a rather basic
function.
“They have proper flushes,
and the units are fully
carpeted, hand basins have
gold finished taps with hot
and cold running water,
mirrors and even music. We
usually play opera when we
go to the likes of Osborne
House or the Hunt Ball!”
Rob and his brother Roger
(the R&R of the Container
company) have
been providing
these little
beauties
to social
functions for
five years
now. “They
are made in
Herefordshire
to our
specifications,”
says Rob.
There are three
sizes, ranging
in price from
£225 to £500:
the smallest
caters for
groups of 30
to 100, then
100-250 and
the largest
caters for

groups of 250 to 350.
On a less grand scale, R&R
Containers also supply what
Rob calls “single event toilets”,
for home barbeques when you
don’t want guests traipsing
through the house. These are a
plastic unit with hot and cold
water and a vanity light. Cost,
including supply and delivery,
is £100. Mobile showers are
available too.
But it is the Classic Luxury
units which are Rob’s pride
and joy. “They are as lovely as
a loo can be,” he says. And he
means it.
