life - FOOD & DRINK New and exciting plans for The Hambrough, Ventnor SOME of the world’s greatest winemakers will be descending on stylish Ventnor hotel The Hambrough this year. Jo Dos Santos, managing director of the hotel in Hambrough Road, is planning to introduce wine tastings with producers from France, Spain, Italy and even some New World countries. He says: “We are planning a special package where a producer will come over and do a whole talk on his wines. “We’ll concentrate on six or seven different wines from the same maker and we’ll provide a tasting menu to complement each one.” Other new initiatives for this year include cigar connoisseur evenings showcasing new ranges of cigars on offer from the hotel’s London suppliers. They will also start serving tea, coffee and cake on a daily basis from their lounge. Jo adds: “We’ll be serving big slices of really nice home-made cake with a cup of tea or coffee for about £4.50. “We’ll be putting together some conference packages for our conference room with a garden. 90 “And we will also be opening up our garden as a place where people can come and enjoy some cocktails in the evenings.” Staff are determined to build on the success The Hambrough has achieved in the short time the current team has been running it.
