New and exciting
plans for The
Hambrough, Ventnor
SOME of the world’s
greatest
winemakers
will be descending on
stylish Ventnor hotel The
Hambrough this year.
Jo Dos Santos, managing
director of the hotel in
Hambrough
Road,
is
planning to introduce
wine
tastings
with
producers from France,
Spain, Italy and even some
New World
countries.
He says: “We are planning
a special package where a
producer will come over and
do a whole talk on his wines.
“We’ll concentrate on six or seven
different wines from the same
maker and we’ll provide a tasting
menu to complement each one.”
Other new initiatives for this
year include cigar connoisseur
evenings
showcasing
new
ranges of cigars on offer from
the hotel’s London suppliers.
They will also start serving
tea, coffee and cake on a
daily basis from their lounge.
Jo adds:
“We’ll be serving big slices of really
nice home-made cake with a cup of
tea or coffee for about £4.50.
“We’ll be putting together some
conference packages for our
conference room with a garden.

“And we will also be opening
up our garden as a place where
people can come and enjoy
some cocktails in the evenings.”
Staff are determined to build on
the success The Hambrough has
achieved in the short time the
current team has been running it.
The hotel already has a reputation
for being the place to stay in
Ventnor.
“We achieved two rosettes in our
first six months and this year we
are really looking to achieve three
rosettes.”
