life - FOOD & DRINK
Oh! and where
do you eat out
out then? …
We asked some of the island’s
better known characters and top
chefs where they like to dine out.
Geoffrey Hughes, Actor: My favourite restaurant
is The Priory Bay, Seaview. My favourite home
cooked dish is naturally smoked haddock with
a poached egg on top. I love to cook, although
I’m a french cook, which means I make the mess
and my wife does the washing up!
John Giddings, Promoter: On the Isle of Wight
my favourite restaurant has to be Libertys, Union
Street, Ryde. My favourite home cooked dish is
Cauliflower Cheese. No comment on the cooking
and washing up!
Jack Douglas, Actor: My favourite local
restaurant is Morgan’s, Shanklin. My favourite
home cooked dish is Mussells in white wine. I
love cooking I started when I was 7 years old. I
also love food shopping. I have written quite a
few cookery books. I also share the washing up
with my wife!
Andrew Turner, MP: There are so many good
restaurants I cannot single out one! My favourite
home cooked dish is English Breakfast and
Sunday Roast. I don’t cook often, and I share the
washing up! My physiotherapist told me it was
good therapy to do the washing up because it is
good exercise for my arms!
Andy Sutton, Council Leader, My favourite
restaurant is Country Gardens, Totland. My
favourite home cooked dish is Fillet Steak with
Garlic Mushrooms. Yes I do cook and wash up,
it’s what real men do!
