life - SOCIETY Freshwater Members Champagne Moments Club Captain Gary Holmes got his year off to a flying start with the Annual Dinner Dance hosted superbly by The Farringford, Freshwater. Over 100 members and their guests dined and danced the night away. Gary introduced his Charity for the year, The Stroke Association, in a moving speech, he recounted how his son Danny had suffered a stroke after a collision during a football match ending his endeavours in that particular sport. Gary paid particular tribute to hospital staff whose care and Club Captain Gary Holmes and his wife Sue dedication has meant that Danny made a full recovery and has been studying Golf at the Duchy College since September, representing their elite team home and abroad. The fund raising antics were ably compared by Jay Chapman with games of Heads and Tails and Irish Bingo bringing the total to date close to the £1,000 mark, thanks to prizes of champagne donated by The Fat Cat, Medina Wine and the past and present Lady Captains.
